Howard College has four libraries serving their respective campuses (Big Spring, SWCD, Lamesa and San Angelo). Students can request items from off-campus libraries to be sent to their on-campus library for check out and return. Howard College students do also have access to Angelo State University Library.
Students can access online materials through the library’s website. Howard College libraries strive to provide a diverse community with quality print, electronic, and multi-media resources, services and instruction. The librarians and library staff strive to promote academic and student success by placing emphasis on library research skills, information and digital literacy, as well as critical thinking. Developing critical thinking skills is important when it comes to collecting, evaluating information, making decisions and solving problems. Howard College libraries assist students, faculty, and staff achieve their educational, occupational, and/or personal goals.
Mission Statement
As an integral support service for the programs and purpose of Howard College, the libraries of Howard College are committed: 1.) To provide the primary and secondary materials needed to support all aspects of the educational enterprise, including university parallel curricula, occupational education programs, and continuing education/community service programs; 2.) To serve as a resource for the cultural, recreational, and intellectual development of their communities; 3.) To be responsive to the needs and aspirations of the community they serve. The libraries shall seek to deliver their services through a variety of delivery systems and shall strive to facilitate maximum access to information as appropriate to user needs.
